The Million Paws Walk - People and Paws for a Great Animal Cause!

Editorial Review

Every dog has its day, and this year, it's Sunday, 18 May. While Melbourne is the centre piece, there’s over 14 locations right around the state woofing it up big time for Victoria’s Annual Million Paws Walk, joining doggie walks all over Australia to participate in one of the largest dog walks in the world.

10am (register from 8:30am) 18 May
Albert Park Lake, Pelican Lawn, Aughtie Drive

Taking the dog for a walk, latte in hand lamenting the loss of your footy team at the Dome the night before is such a Sunday thing to do. And this Sunday, 18 May, you and your canine can indulge in your favourite Sunday session with a higher purpose! In fact, that’s exactly what a whole lot of other pooches and their carers will be doing – walking the walk and raising money for the RSPCA, one of Australia’s hardest working charities.

So how big is this thing? Last year, over 16,000 people – and their pampered pups, pooches, mongrels and grand old danes took part in the Million Paws walk, raising more than $200,000 for shelters, veterinary and education services.

This year, the RSPCA is hoping to break the Guinness World Record for the largest dog walk in the world! There'll be 14 locations around the state, including Albert Park Lake, and for the first time, you can pre-register. That means you can just turn up on Sunday and enjoy the activities without the stress of registering for the walk, which this year includes doggie demonstrations and competitions, celebrity guests and MCs, dog washes for the loved ones  - and Tyrell's Wine tastings for their carers.

So take part in the doggy social event of the year and help raise money for animals in need. Oh – and don’t forget the leash!
